Male Breast Reduction
Almost all men have some degree of glandular breast tissue under their nipples. In some patients, this can be exaggerated, often with the accumulation of fat in the anterior pectoral area, leading to the appearance of actual breast formation.
Gynecomastia surgery, offered by Dr. John P. Zimmerman, consists of removing the excess fat with liposuction. If there is an excess of glandular tissue, this is usually removed via a small incision around the border of the nipple. The overlying skin then shrinks down to accommodate the new contour. In very rare cases, markedly excessive skin may have to be removed.
This is an outpatient procedure, which takes one to two hours to complete.
