After the Earthquake
It’s not every day that you have the opportunity to see a community rallying together in action…but the 2014 6.0 earthquake here in Napa did just that and made me happy and proud to be a member of this community.
It was so very reassuring to be able to see the triage of earthquake injured patients at the Queen of the Valley Hospital work so well, and that so many people volunteered their services. It’s a tribute to all of our hospitals to see them serve their communities, and the cooperation and selflessness that I witnessed demonstrated how we can all work together when the situation demands, when the going gets tough.
Thanks to all of those folks in healthcare in Napa and the surrounding areas for reaching out to others!
There is so much to do, and there may be a mountain of debris…shards of glass and clumps of brick…to haul off in the weeks that follow, but I am sure of the good will that encompassed this valley as they held together and reached out to one another. This makes me want to raise a glass…of wine, of course…and toast ‘Thanks, and all the best to all of you.’
